Gate logs rarely make it into a commercial conversation until something goes wrong. They sit in the operations file, useful for security, less obviously useful for anything else. That underrates them. A gate log is a continuous attendance record that can settle a wide range of arguments.
What a gate record can quietly settle
- Whether a subcontractor was on site on the days they have invoiced for.
- Whether a delivery arrived in the time window claimed.
- Whether a piece of plant was on or off site during a delay event.
- Whether a non-attending package can be excluded from a stand-down claim.
None of these are courtroom moments. They are the small disputes that take a half-day to resolve and that recur every couple of months. With a usable gate record, the half-day becomes ten minutes. The annualised number is meaningful.
